109 km, Hirtshals-Rold Skov
Although we woke up quite early, we didn't start before 10.30.
Since there was promised sunny weather with talewind, we planned to cycle rather long today.
At 20 km we ate pizza for late breakfast/early lunch in Hjørring, then we had a second break at 40 K. Since Orsi was really sleepy during the whole ride, we took a nap on the nice grass.
Altough we expected the landscape to change, it did not: Denmark is a beautiful country but is extremely flat ! The flat countryside and the warm weather did not exactly gave us extra energy, even if we rode with a nice talewind.
Denmark is so different from Norway: the landscape, bicycle roads (which are mostly excellent in Denmark) and even the prices (Norway is more expensive)!
Back in Norway we tried to guess who will get a flat tire first, and where. We both voted for Isak, with getting a puncture in Germany.
Aaand the winner is Isak Swahn with getting a flat back tire at 56 km today after more than 700 km).
After changing the tube and the rather worn out tire, we continued towards Aalborg where we hoped to find a sport shop for buying extra inner tube, tire and aerobar (handlebars that you can lean on) for Isak. Unfortunately he developed ulnar nerve damage (handlebar palsy) in his hand, which means he basically doesn't have enough power in his little finger and ring finger. Isak's handlebars were wrongly adjusted which probably lead to the squeezed ulnar nerve.
After leaving Aalborg behind, the landscape changed dramatically, mostly because we left the main road. We travelled through fields, misty forests, and we even got to see a beatiful red sunset at 10 pm.
Tonight we sleep at Rold Storkro, which is quite a hidden place in a fairy landscape. Tomorrow morning we will feed the roe deers who live at the park next to the hotel, than we continue towards the south, towards shorter days and longer nights. :-)
