105 km Heiligengrabe-Germandorf
Today we saw a black snake curled up in the sun. We didn't know what kind it was, but later learned that it was probably harmless. Other animals were horses, cows, sheep, squirrel, roe deer, hawk and other cyclists. :-) In the evening we were going to arrive at a hotel next to a zoo, but we didn't know this yet.
Our goal for the day was Berlin. We set the GPS, and started cycling. Everything went well until we were 62 km from the city. In front of us we had some bad road again, and we decided to make a detour (avoiding walking the bikes and getting eaten by mosquitoes), direction Denmark.
We then decided to not take detours again; if we get to bad roads, we will just accept it and walk it - after all, only a few percent of the distance we have covered in Germany have been unridable, ten percent not so good, but almost all very good. We have to think about that when we have to walk again..
After a Mcdonald's break in Neuruppin, we continued on towards Berlin but we didn't reach it today. We got tired (Isak not that much), and at 100 km we decided to find somewhere to sleep. We found a wonderful hotel by a zoo and a lake in Germandorf, had a nice dinner and fell asleep very quickly.
We thought about staying a day here in Germandorf and have a rest but we came to realize that we are running out of time.. There is still ca 1000 km to go, and we have to leave Hungary already on the second of August.
